Video of how I use my planner

I still remember the first time I ever saw the musical South Pacific.  I loved it.  "Happy Talk" is one of my favorites in the show so I put it to use in this slideshow that displays my planner and how I use it everyday/week/month.  Many have asked how to best implement the spaces throughout the planner.  It really is so customizable and can be used for just about anything.  Anything I want in my brain or memory, I keep in my planner.

So I hope that this can give you some ideas and that you will enjoy the song as well.  "Happy talk.  Talk about things you want to do.  You've got to have a dream...If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?"  So true.  So get writing and talking about your plans and dreams in the Mothers Who Know planner.

Are you really "BORED"?

I know that summer is almost over but I just barely found this idea on Pinterest so you had better believe we're going to be using this little bored chart to make these last 3 weeks bored free at our house.  I made one that is already finished and ready to hang on your wall or be framed.

Color Version

I also made a black and white version that you can print out and have your kiddos color in for fun.

Family Proclamation Summary

The other day we were camping with some friends and had some awesome gospel conversations.  (my most favorite kind of conversations)  We were talking a little bit about everything and I just loved it.    Isn't that the best?  Looking into the fire and chatting with awesome people about awesome things.  At one point the topic of families came up and how the devil is attacking marriage and families and trying to change it's purpose and definition.  And even more than that , he's trying to define it out of existence all together.

We talked about what to say to people who disregard what the Lord/Prophet has said about marriage and we realized how controversial and tender a topic it is even amongst members of the church.  All involved in this conversation we had has either family or friends who are struggling with the church's stand on marriage. We were trying to understand and come up with a way to defend marriage without offending anyone, which seems impossible in this day and age.  The truth is, we don't really need to "come up" with anything, it has already been defined and made clear in the Proclamation on the Family.  What an awesome piece of inspiration and guidance right at our fingertips for us to use especially in these last days.  It is a gem for sure.

As members of the LDS church I believe that we, each of us need to KNOW this doctrine.  We need to memorize what the Proclamation states.  We need to understand that it is not a time to sit on the fence in fear of standing up for these truths.  It is a sensitive topic for sure, it is full of debate as far as politics and the world is concerned.  But it is not up for debate as far as the Lord is concerned.  He has clearly stated and has set the standard for the world on this topic of marriage and families.

I am personally grateful for a living Prophet who guides us and leads us in the way of truth and happiness.  He is God's spokesman on earth today.  We don't have to be confused about this topic.  Through prayer, study of scriptures and this proclamation we can know what to say to others and be firm in our testimony. and unwavering in our faith that this is God's will for marriage and families.  We are His children and He loves us and knows all things.   We can share this proclamation with others and do so in a very loving way and then express our testimony about it, and that's really all we need to be concerned about.  We're never going to change the world's view on these things, and they are never going to change our faith and belief in God, so all we can do is share HIS message and be on HIS side of the issue.

Anyway, to help us memorize and learn the key doctrines on the subject of Marriage & Family, I came up with some subway art of the key points in the Proclamation to keep in our scriptures, on our mirror or in our planners that will help aid us in learning, teaching & defending these truths.  Print some out for your children also and youth groups.  These are not meant to take the place of the full Proclamation.  They are just an aid to help us learn and memorize.

Priesthood Aprreciation

For mutual tonight we are having a Priesthood Appreciation Night. We were supposed to do this activity last month but we had no time because of girl's camps, youth conference and such.

I wrote this poem that we are taking around with treats to all of our Young Men and Priesthood leaders like the Bishopric, YM leaders, Elder's Quorum Pres. & High Priest leaders. I think it's important to let them know that we notice them and appreciate them, especially after all of the awesome lessons we just had about the Priesthood and Priesthood keys.  The best part is that it was the Young Women's idea to do this activity, it shows that they really get it.

Feel free to use this poem if you have a similar idea.  Right click on the picture and save it to your download folder.  Print 2 to a 8-1/2" x 11" page or 4 to a 12"x12" card-stock sheet.

Confirmation Ordinance

I love this quote by Elder Bednar.  It really emphasizes the confirmation ordinance and it's significance and why we have it.  I made hand-outs of course.  You can download them if you want.  They are just to be printed out on 8-1/2" cardstock paper or regular is fine too.  There are two versions of the handouts.  Enjoy!

Baptismal Covenants - KITKAT

My kids came home with a little hand out from primary last week involving chocolate and they ate it right in front of me too.  NOT COOL!  So... I stole the idea from the cute primary leaders in our ward who I think stole it from Pinterest.

Of course I had to make my own cute-i-fied version.  I printed them out on 4x6 cardstock paper front and back.  The KitKat picture on the page is the same size as the little miniature two piece kitkats.  So after you print them out, just stick the real one right in place and wallah.  When they are done eating them, they still have the reminder of what was there for their scriptures or journal.  Visual reminders are the BEST.

Anyway, there is a PDF download available if you want or you can right click on the pictures as well.

Hope you like it!

How to benefit from temple attendance

Since we are studying Covenants and Ordinances in Young Women's this month, I thought these suggestions by Elder Scott were helpful in reminding us to be more aware and mindful as we go to the temple to renew our covenants and to help others receive their ordinances.

Ordinances & Covenants

I love these handouts by Courtney Aitken.  She has free downloads on her site.  She recommended a talk by Sister Bonnie Parkin that I ended up loving.  I made a handout for my Young Women of the talk (below) and gave them copies of Courtney's handouts as well for their curriculum journals.  I also found these other quotes by Russell M. Nelson that I LOVED so I made a print-out of those as well.  Go to Courtney's blog to download the circle handouts and the bookmarks and just right click on those below for the quotes and talk.

These signs were printed out on 12 x 12 paper, but you can change the size on your printer to do 8x8

I printed the talk out on 6x9 (1/2 of 12x12 sheet) front-back so it would fit in their journals.

Ordinary people doing extraordinary things

I will Go and Do

This is my all time favorite scripture.  I've loved it since I was about 8 years old.  It was the first scripture I memorized and it has always stuck with me.  I know this scripture is true.  The Lord will never fail us when we are on His errands, when we are doing what He has asked us to do.

I love that now it is my 10 year old daughters favorite scripture.  She has also memorized it and loves it.  She even gave a whole talk on it that was excellent.

I was making up a cute sign for her smash book and thought I would do a few extra in case it's your favorite scripture too.  There are some girl and some boy versions to print out.  8-1/2" x 11
