The Latter-Days

What an amazing talk by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland.

I was feeling a bit uneasy about the state of the world and I happened across this talk and it seriously gave me so much comfort and has made me so excited and thrilled to be a part of this period in time.  We don't need to fear if we are on the right side and HE is the Good Shepherd and will not leave His flock unattended.  I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I love the scriptures and I know they are true and good.

Parenting

I love Elder Jeffrey R. Holland.  He gives great talks.  I like this talk that he gave called "Because She is a Mother", especially the part about doing our best and how much it counts when we just do our best (or close to it).

I thought I would make a cute print out to hang in my bedroom to remind me that it's my little efforts, desires and motivations that make a difference.  Enjoy!

Scripture Study Tips & Tricks

We had a youth activity a little while ago about studying the scriptures.  We wanted to help the youth to be able to study the scriptures more effectively and purposefully.  I researched some different ideas from a few different sources (mainly LDS.org) and came up with quite a few.  I put them down on 8-1/2" x 11" paper to give as a handout to the youth.  I made a girly version and a boy version.

The "girly" version

The boy version

The second page is exactly the same, but I switched up the first page a little bit.  Here are some more views.  If you click on the image it will take you to the download of that page.

I use these myself and find them to be very effective ways of studying.  I'm sure there are more ways then this even.  I'm always looking for new and exciting ways to get more out of the scriptures, so if you know any more please feel free to leave a comment.

Member Missionary

I remember the day I received my name tag in the MTC just before Thanksgiving 1999.  It was such an honor for me to wear that missionary badge just over my heart and represent my Savior in all that I did and said.  I loved wearing it my whole mission and was careful not to do or say anything that would mis-represent the Lord.

When they asked me to take my missionary name tag off when I was released 18 months later, I was hesitant to do so and didn't want to.  But soon after I realized that I could still be a missionary.  I could still represent my Savior at all times and in all things and in all places.  Though I fall short all too often of this task, I have a testimony in my heart and I know that the Lord is pleased when I live the gospel, when I share my testimony, when I let my light shine.

I read this quote from Elder Andersen and fell in love with it, so of course I had to make it into a picture quote to hang on my wall.  Right click to download.  :)

Just for fun....

This was me on my bike in Taiwan serving as a full time missionary.  One of the best times of my life.  So many amazing memories and people there.
